For the past week, the team's focus has been on constructing the battery pack for the solar car. Using a spot-welder, each battery was welded into groups of 14 with nickel strips connecting the positive and negative sides of each battery together to form a parallel connection. The long process of making the mini-groups of batteries is now almost finished and the planning of the construction of a battery case that will house all the connected batteries has now started. As the team completes the battery pack in the coming days we will have completed the first major component of the car, right on schedule. In other news, the welding of the chassis has begun this past weekend and we will be focusing on the completion of the chassis for the next couple of weeks.
